ARABIAN GULF - 230921-Z-QQ327-1012 ARABIAN GULF(Sept. 21, 2023) U.S. Coast Guard, Boatswains Mate 1st Class Gustavo Martinez, assigned to the USCGC Emlen Tunnell (WPC 1145), retrieves a search and rescue dummy over the edge of a rigid-hulled inflatable boat at the end of a joint search and rescue exercise (SAREX) in Arabian Gulf, Sept. 21. Search and rescue dummies allow search and rescue teams to pinpoint a target without putting personnel at risk. Components of the United States Coast Guard and regional partners regularly conduct joint training to further improve readiness in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations and help improve maritime security and stability in the Middle East region.
