MANAMA, Bahrain - Vice Adm. Chris Aquilino, commander, U.S. 5th Fleet, left, poses for a photo with U.S. 5th Fleet Sailor of the Year, Information Systems Technician 1st Class Lenda Flowers, assigned to Task Force (TF) 57 and Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 57, and Fleet Master Chief Russell Mason, U.S. 5th Fleet Command Master Chief, during a ceremony onboard Naval Support Activity Bahrain. U.S. 5th Fleet conducts maritime operations to deter and counter regional threats, defeat violent extremism and strengthen partner nations' maritime capabilities in order to preserve the free flow of commerce and promote a secure maritime environment in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
