U.S. 5th Fleet provided the following readout:

Vice Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/5th Fleet/Combined Maritime Forces Commander, spoke with Vice Admiral Fahad al Ghofaily, commander of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces, on May 19 to reaffirm the strong naval relationship between the United States and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The leaders discussed the importance of Saudi Arabia’s participation and leadership in the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) and International Maritime Security Construct (IMSC), supporting maritime security and stability throughout the region. 

Cooper also congratulated Al Ghofaily on the inauguration of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces’ first MH-60R helicopter squadron in December, and on the keel laying of their newest Multi-Mission Surface Combatant, the HMS Saud.
