MANAMA, Bahrain --

U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/5th Fleet/Combined Maritime Forces Commander Vice Adm. Samuel Paparo met via video conference with Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, Rear Adm. Abdullah Al-Raisi, Sept. 13 to reaffirm the longstanding defense relationship between the United States and Oman.

The leaders discussed the importance of the strong partnership between the navies of Oman and the United States to ensure maritime security and stability in the Gulf of Oman, Strait of Hormuz and Arabian Gulf. 

Paparo also expressed appreciation to Al-Raisi for supporting U.S. ship port visits to Duqm, including the recent visit by the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) and guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59), and assuring COVID-19 mitigations for the health and wellbeing of our personnel.
