U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/5th Fleet/Combined Maritime Forces Commander Vice Adm. Samuel Paparo met via video conference with Royal Jordanian Naval Forces Commander Captain Hisham Al-Jarrah Sept. 10 to reaffirm the strategic defense relationship between the United States and Jordan.

The leaders discussed the importance of integration and interoperability between the navies of Jordan and the United States to ensure maritime security and stability in the Red Sea. 

Paparo also expressed appreciation to Hisham for Jordan’s commitment and leadership in Combined Maritime Forces commanding CTF-152 for the past year and for hosting Exercise Infinite Defender 2020, the first bilateral exercise conducted by the Jordanian Armed Forces since the beginning of the COVID-19 epidemic.
