Captain Anderson J. Perez is a native of Baldwin Park, CA. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1999, earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics, and earned a master's from the Army War College.
Perez’s operational assignments include service on two fast-attack submarines as division officer, USS Key West (SSN 722), as navigator/operations officer, USS North Carolina (SSN 777), and Submarine Element and Strike Coordinator on Carrier Strike Group Eight.
During these tours he completed four Western Pacific patrols as well as deployments to the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Arabian Ocean.
Perez performed staff tours in various submarine and operational related units including, U.S. Strategic Command, North Atlantic Treaty Organization – Transformation, and Navy Emergency Preparedness Liaison Officer.
His command tours include Undersea Warfare Operations Det. Alameda, CA; Undersea Warfare Operations Det. Denver, CA; Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron (MSRON) 11 Det. D, Bangor, WA; and Commander Submarine Group 2, Norfolk, VA.
Mobilizations include Chief, Office of Security Cooperation – Kampala, Uganda, supporting counterterrorism operations in Somalia; Senior Advisor to Commander, Red Sea Fleet Command, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, coordinating United States Naval Forces Central Command and partner nation missions in the Red Sea and Yemen.
He is currently serving as the Chief of Staff for U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. 5th Fleet.
His decorations include: Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and various service, expeditionary, unit and campaign awards.
