Commander’s Intent
  • Purpose
  • Build and strengthen relationships among key stakeholders concerned with maritime infrastructure protection and enhance our collective understanding of the challenges associated with protecting that infrastructure in the Middle East to include: critical assets at sea and ashore, sea lines of communication, commercial shipping, and key choke points. This enhanced understanding of common challenges should inform solutions designed to ensure regional maritime infrastructure protection and the free flow of maritime commerce.

  • Method
  • Conduct a two-day symposium bringing together leading experts from government, military, industry and academia concerned with maritime infrastructure protection. Using a combination of speakers, panel discussions, and interactive forum discussion the symposium will focus on: 1) countering challenges to the free flow of commerce, and their challenges to fixed critical maritime infrastructure, 2) identifying issues related to information exchange between key stakeholders in the maritime domain and propose solutions.

  • End State
  • Arrive at a collective understanding of the challenges related to the protection of critical maritime infrastructure as well as a consensus to collaborate as we strive to improve the interoperability, capability, and capacity of all stakeholders to ensure maritime infrastructure protection.
