12105-N-ZZ999-024 ARABIAN SEA (Jan. 5, 2012) Rigid-hull inflatable boats with visit, board, search and seizure teams assigned to guided-missile destroyer USS Kidd (DDG 100) approach the Iranian-flagged fishing dhow Al-Molai after receiving a distress call from the master stating the dhow was being held hostage by pirates. The Kidd’s VBSS team boarded and detained 15 suspected pirates who were holding a 13-member Iranian crew hostage for the several weeks.
