The Danish-led Combined Task Force 151 (CTF 151, counter piracy) is entering its third week at sea onboard U.S. guided-missile destroyer, USS HALSEY (DDG 97) operating off the Horn of Africa, Jan. 27.
USS PINCKNEY DISRUPTS PIRACY
GULF OF ADEN - USS Pinckney (DDG 91), assigned to Combined Task Force (CTF) 151, working under Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) based in Bahrain, disrupted a group of suspected pirates close to the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor (IRTC), south of Yemen, Dec. 19.
120105-N-ZZ999-004 ARABIAN SEA (Jan. 5, 2012) Guided-missile destroyer USS Kidd (DDG 100) responded to a distress call from the master of the Iranian-flagged fishing dhow Al Molai, who stated he was held captive by pirates. The Kidd's visit, board, search and seizure team, detained 15 suspected pirates, who were reportedly holding a 13-member Iranian crew hostage for several weeks.
