CTF-57 Supports Halloween 3K Fun Run

By Lt. Brandon Daughtry

MANAMA, Bahrain – Commander, Task Force (CTF) 57 “Desert Sharks” turned out in force to participate in Naval Support Activity Bahrain’s Halloween 3k Fun Run, Oct 31.

CTF-57 is holding its change of command ceremony on Nov 8, and Commodore Capt. Reggie Howard expressed his appreciation for this last opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of the “Desert Shark” family.

“Our success is made possible by the support that these Sailors have from each other,” said Howard. “Tonight was another example of the ‘Desert Sharks’ coming together and being that close-knit command they are proud to be a part of.”

Howard led 62 Sailors in this morale-building event, and explained that this event is just one of many examples of the spirit and teamwork displayed by the task force.

“I couldn’t be happier with the amazing turnout by our ‘Sharks’,” said Howard. “Their teamwork and dedication are what allow them to perform so well at the high operational tempo demanded in this area of responsibility.”

CTF 57 is responsible for conducting maritime surveillance and reconnaissance operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. CTF 57 supports the U.S. 5th Fleet and Unified Commanders, enhancing regional stability, promoting cooperative security and deterring aggression by providing responsive interoperable and combat ready Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Forces.
