ARABIAN GULF (Jan. 25, 2016) Explosive Ordnance Disposal 2nd Class Matthew Krom assigned to Commander, Task Group 56.1 enters the Arabian Gulf to locate a training mine during a quarterly Squadron Exercise (Squadex). Squadex is a mine countermeasures exercise designed to assess the abilities of U.S. Navy explosive ordnance disposal units and reaffirm their proficiency with the units' latest equipment. CTG 56.1 conducts mine countermeasure, explosive ordnance disposal, salvage-diving, and force protection operations throughout the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations.
