MANAMA, Bahrain --

U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/5th Fleet/Combined Maritime Forces Commander Vice Adm. Samuel Paparo met with Bahrain Defence Force Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmad Al-Khalifa Sept. 14.

The leaders discussed the enduring partnership the U.S. Navy has enjoyed with the Kingdom of Bahrain for nearly 70 years, and the importance of the Bahrain-U.S. defense relationship to ensure security in the region.

Paparo also expressed appreciation to Field Marshal Al-Khalifa for Bahrain’s participation in the Combined Maritime Forces and its willingness to be the first partner in the region to join the International Maritime Security Construct, a reflection of their commitment to regional stability.
